Allocation Analyst & Merchandise Distributor
This position is responsible for developing distribution strategies and allocating individual merchandise receipts to stores at the Style, Color and size level consistent with store level needs, sales performance and in coordination with the merchandise plans. Identifies and rectifies stock imbalances in stores. Works with the Merchandise Planner.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Reviews assortment plan and attends assortment review presentations prepared to raise distribution questions and concerns. Develop a distribution strategy for the programs and items delivered during that time frame and present in a written assortment review.
Allocates, to the size level, each Style/Color purchased based on the optimum criteria developed.
Analyzes merchandise performance at the department, item and location level including analyzing store performance and stock to sales ratios on a weekly basis to identify problems and opportunities on both the class and departmental basis. Evaluate and develops action plans to properly balance stock.
Identifies and rectifies stock imbalances in individual stores through distribution of new receipts, consolidation of merchandise, taking advantage of catalog full price overbuys and working with District and Store Managers.
Maintains consistent awareness of the business managed by catalog counterpart. Works closely with counterpart to ensure that total company inventory is utilized to its maximum potential.
Communicates on a timely basis with the Distribution Center regarding receipt and purchase order issues.
Participates with the Planner and Buyer in the Quarterly Financial Planning process to develop and recommend store volume rankings, initial and reorder quantities, size breaks, appropriate stock levels, geographic and special layer store needs.
On an ongoing basis, communicates and makes recommendations to the Planner and Buyer regarding store needs, distribution concerns such as flow, breaks or sizing and new store issues.
Monitors the flow of inventory through Pool Stock. Moves merchandise to stores based on need at the Color/Size level.
Creates an opening assortment plan for each new store, using assortment plans and information about each store's location and customer type. Distributes merchandise according to plan and ensures that each store opens with sufficient and appropriate inventory. Monitors and adjusts for early and late receipts and opening date changes. Communicates all changes and problems to the New Store Planner.
Analyzes new store selling and reacts by adjusting initial distributions, by taking catalog overbuys or recommending transfers. Reacts and responds promptly to all special requests of the Sr. Analyst - Merchandise Distribution and the New Store Planner.
Requirements
- BA Degree with emphasis in business, finance, or economics.
- Internship experience in analysis. (Relating to retail a plus, not a must).
- Demonstrate Strong Analytical Skills
- PC Proficient, building Excel Spreadsheets with formula insertion.
- No Relocation.
