Buyer of Children's Apparel

Leading Retailer in New England is seeking a Children's Apparel Buyer.

 

Responsibilities Include:

 

  •          Management of financial goals including sales, gross margin and inventory turn.
  •          Develop seasonal assortment strategies.  Plan basic and seasonal product requirements (including potential close outs, excesses of fabric and product) to support sales and inventory targets and planned promotions.
  •          Work with corporate design team to enhance product offering to achieve optimal merchandise assortment for retail.
  •          Work with vendors to ensure design, fabric spec, labeling, pricing and quality levels are met.
  •          Collaborate with Planning and Allocation team on item level forecasting, store and regional distribution, markdown strategies and seasonal strategic planning.
  •          Initiate new store product assortments.
  •          Define flow, marketing and merchandise presentation for al product concepts.
  •          Develop seasonal promotional calendar with required purchases to drive business.
  •          Prepare, review and react to weekly, monthly, and quarterly item and program level sales
  •          Recommend monthly/weekly promotional markdowns
  •          Analyze markdown problems, develop solutions to manage inventory, sales and margin goals.
  •          Control merchandise pricing based on current sales trends and competitive marketplace.
  •          Maintain class hierarchy
  •          Shop markets and competition for product and trends.
  •          Communicate with stores on product information and presentation guidelines.  Ensure consistent placement of product on the selling floor by providing floor set detail to all stores.
  •          Communicate with stores and distribution centers to resolve quality, ticketing and merchandising problems.

 

Qualifications for Consideration:

 

Ability to effectively articulate successes; demonstrating solid creative and analytical skills and abilities  

 

Previous experience working in an environment where buyers partnered closely with planning

 

Previous kids and or baby buying experience preferred

 

Previous product development experience preferred but not required

 

Bachelors degree preferred.
