Leading Apparel Specialty Retailer located in New York City, with over $1 Billion in annual sales, supporting over 700 stores is seeking a Director of Merchandise Planning to join their team.
Lead the Merchanise Planning Team in the planning of all components (retail, cost, units, margin, etc.) for specific departments pertaining to class or item level in order to maximize sales and profitability
Direct pre-season Original Plans, consistent with the company's top-down goals, to be used in development of the merchandise strategies for the season and to support line development and buying needs.
Work closely with the DMM(s) in reviewing in season product trends in order to revise the season's plan with updated projections that maximize sales and profitability.
Lead monthly recap meetings for review and revisions of merchandise plans to Merchandise/Planning and Allocation executives.
Provide fiscal control through management of markdowns and purchase orders.
Take on special projects that enhance the merchandising and planning processes and/or lead to opportunities for increased profitability.
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field, or equivalent experience.
Previous merchandise planning experience, preferably in a specialty retail environment,
or previous retail buying experience at the Director level.

In-depth retail math knowledge
Overall retail knowledge and business awareness
Product knowledge of apparel and related merchandise.
Highly computer literate
Strong Communication skills.
